Bazil Tume, (03/06/1993) is a Cameroon-born early-career conservationist who has grown to develop special interest in the conservation of wildlife within the Congo Basin.

Bazil is a graduate from the university of Buea and Dschang where he obtained a B.Sc. and M.Sc. in Biology, and Applied Ecology and wildlife management respectively. His academic research with the latter, explored the population status and conservation prospects of the endangered Colobus satanas in the Mount Mbam forest Cameron; an Important Bird Area (IBA) with unprotected status.

Bazil has previously worked with two local NGOs (SURUDEV and SEKAKOH) where he specialized in livelihood improvement through the sustainable use of natural resources and habitat restoration in Protected Areas (PAs), and research notably on the Nigerian-Cameroon Chimpanzee (Pan troglotydes ellioti) and the black satanic monkey (Colobus satanas),

Passionate about preserving nature’s delicate balance, Bazil currently works as the livelihood’s coordinator for ABOYERD, where his mission is to bridge the gap between conservation and communities. With a background in Applied Ecology and Wildlife management, Bazil brings over 7 years of experience working with conservation NGOs across Cameroon. Looking into the future, he has his sights set on a Ph.D., specializing in mitigating Human-Wildlife Conflicts and valorizing Non-Timber Forest Products across Protected Areas in Africa and beyond. Join Bazil on this journey to protect the world’s precious wildlife and empower local communities. Bazil believes together, we can make a difference!
